ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – In a recent report from Zillow of the states that had cities with $1 million starter homes, Missouri made the list with only one city.

Out of 233 cities, the City of Huntleigh, Missouri, was listed as the only city within the state to have these high-priced starter homes, according to Zillow.

Sitting between the Ladue, Frontenac and Kirkwood areas, Huntleigh holds over 150 families, totaling up to 361 residents, according to the Census Bureau. The city is strictly residential with no commercial or industrial developments, Huntleigh’s city website noted.

Five years ago, there were only 85 cities who held the title with a $1 million starter home, and no Missouri city was included in that number.

“While cities with $1 million starter homes still represent a small piece of American real estate, they are a striking symbol of how the pandemic housing boom reshaped affordability,” the Zillow report included.

Within the city limits of Huntleigh, there are two homes currently for sale on Zillow worth over $4 million. For several years in a row, the city has taken the number one spot for the most expensive homes in Missouri.

The states with the most cities holding $1 million starter homes include California, New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Massachusetts. To view the full list, click here.
